Alliance's Two Signature Summer Events
Alliance anchors two of the largest community gatherings in Box Butte County each summer: Alliance Heritage Days, held right in town, and the Box Butte County Fair, held a short drive northwest in Hemingford. Together they draw visitors from across the Nebraska Panhandle for parades, rodeo action, county fair traditions, and small-town celebration.
Alliance Heritage Days
Alliance Heritage Days is a multi-day community festival held in mid-July in downtown Alliance, organized by the Alliance Chamber of Commerce. The celebration typically includes a parade, a carnival, vendor booths, a beer garden, an outdoor movie night, a community barbecue, and a town-wide scavenger hunt — a full slate of family-friendly programming built around a different theme each year.
Location: Downtown Alliance (200-600 block area).
When: Annually in mid-July.
Box Butte County Fair
The Box Butte County Fair has been held in Hemingford — the county's second-largest town, about 20 miles northwest of Alliance — since 1926, making it one of the longer-running county fairs in the Nebraska Panhandle. Modern editions of the fair include a ranch rodeo, a concert, a 5K race, a parade, an antique equipment show, a Bump & Run competition, midway rides, a queen contest, the Old Timers Picnic, 4-H and Open Class exhibits, and Family Night.
Location: Box Butte County Fairgrounds, 1100 Niobrara Street, Hemingford, Nebraska.
When: Annually in August.
