Summerland Pork is a family-run hog farm at 85640 512 Ave, north east of Ewing, owned and operated by Randy and Jill Switzer. They raise their own pigs and sell the meat direct rather than through a packer. The farm itself lies just over the line in Antelope County, although the mailing address and the town people know it by are Ewing, in Holt County.
The farm raises heritage breeds - Red Wattle, Berkshire and Mangalitsa - outdoors on dirt rather than in confinement. By the Switzers' own account the hogs are fed non-GMO feed with no soybean meal as a protein source, and raised drug-free without vaccinations. They describe it as specialty pork built on the same thinking as certified organic, without carrying the certification.
What they sell: butcher hogs by the half and whole, priced on hanging weight with the processing fee paid by the buyer and the hog delivered to the locker, plus freezer meat in smaller quantities.
