Charles Drew Health Center, named for blood-research pioneer Dr. Charles Drew, was organized by North Omaha community activists and became a federally qualified health center in 1983. Over the years it has added WIC, shelter health care, a pharmacy, dental and behavioral health services, Omaha Healthy Start, school-based health centers and a mobile medical unit.
