Meeske Hardware

Meeske Hardware has been in Weeping Water since 1939, when Art and Mable Meeske moved in from a farm near Wisner and bought a hardware store across the street from the present one; they moved to 214 West Eldora Avenue in 1949. Sons Gayle and Tom joined in 1964 and 1972 and took over when Art died in 1976. It is a Do It Best store and it still does the work many stores have dropped: key cutting, re-keying and lock repair, screen and window repair, glass and plexiglass cutting, sharpening, pipe threading, wood cutting, chain and cable cutting, equipment rental, Parmak electric fencer service and special orders, and it is a FedEx shipping point. Departments run to paint, lighting and electrical, plumbing, tools, fasteners, home and garden, farm supplies, outdoor power, building supplies and workwear. Open weekdays eight to six and Saturday eight to five.
