The Thayer County Fair is held at 1302 4th Street in Deshler over four days in early August. The fairgrounds contain their own dirt oval, the Thayer County Speedway, so stock car racing is a permanent fixture here rather than a one-night grandstand booking. The rest of the week carries 4-H and open class exhibits, a car show, a parade, a carnival, an antique tractor drive and show, a rodeo including a kids rodeo, live music, a beer garden and school artwork on display.
