The Keya Paha County Fair and Rodeo is held at Norden, not at the county seat Springview, and it is built around a building rather than an arena. The Norden Dance Hall stands on the fairgrounds, and the barn dance has been the center of the fair since the first one in September 1898. The present grounds were bought in 1921; a new hall was approved in 1929, built by Fred Taylor, and the first dance held there on 6 May 1932. Its floor was laid largely from lumber hauled by team wagon from the Black Hills, Lawrence Welk played there, and it came close to burning in the 2012 wildfires. The agricultural society still runs dances there every other weekend from late May to early October. The fair itself, in mid-August, carries rodeos, a wagon train running all three days, a parade, a car show, a Cowboy Fast Draw competition, a greased pig contest and a Sunday church service and barbecue. The 2025 fair was the 125th.
