The Dawson County Weed Superintendent is responsible for enforcing the Nebraska Noxious Weed Control Act, which requires all property owners to control designated noxious weeds on their land. This office conducts annual inspections of all county land, coordinates noxious weed eradication programs, and provides education and assistance to landowners.
Nebraska's designated noxious weeds include Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Leafy Spurge, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Purple Loosestrife, and Saltcedar. The Weed Superintendent may also offer commercial spraying services and weed-free hay and forage certification.
