Riverton is a village in southern Franklin County, established along Thompson Creek with a post office dating to 1871 and formally incorporated in 1880. The origin of its name isn't confirmed in available records, though its location near the Republican River and Thompson Creek makes a river-related naming story a reasonable guess. Riverton is one of the more thinly documented towns in the county, with no widely reported notable residents or landmarks.
